PARTISANS is an award winning new design syndicate, based in Toronto, that emerged in the wake of the financial crisis. Partisans are part of a new wave of practices that will redefine the future of architecture, urban planning, industrial and interior design. Partisans does work ranging from residential and commercial projects, to furniture, and theoretical concepts for cites. Partisans was founded by Alex Josephson and Pooya Baktash.

ALEXANDER JOSEPHSON Founder of PARTISANS, studied sculpture and architecture at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture, and at the University of Rome, where he graduated as President's scholar. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and exhibitions including a New York Prize Fellowship awarded by the Van Alen Institute for Architecture. While studying and living in Italy he worked in the studios of Massimilliano Fuksas and Doriana Mandrelli. His thesis work on Islamic architecture has been the subject of numerous awards and reviews. In 2010 he was admitted to post graduate studies at the Architecture Association school (AA) in London England, but left to found PARTISANS in Toronto. POOYA BAKTASH Founder of PARTISANS, was born in Tehran, Iran, where he was the top student at the University of Azad Tehran School of Architecture. He subsequently worked as a project architect on major built works at Studio EBA[m] in Tehran. They received the Annual Grand Meemar Prize and Aga Khan Grand Prize for 2006. In 2007 he moved to Toronto and earned numerous awards at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture for his M.Arch thesis. In 2010 he was accepted to the Architecture Association School of Architecture (AA) London England, but left to found PARTISANS in Toronto. SHAMIR PANCHAL PARTISAN, was born in London, England and educated in Canada at the University of Waterloo School of Architecture. He is currently completing an M.Arch there with a focus on fabrication and visualization. The recipient of numerous awards and top honors, Shamir focuses his research on cutting edge installations and sculptures, such as the Tuftit series and Farmegeddon. He is our in house advanced technology guru.
